Rethink That Drink

Unexpected Household Uses for Vodka

Summer time! Think spritz-y cocktails with your toes in the sand, frothy umbrella drinks poolside. But when the fun’s over, you can use that vodka for lots of household chores – we do
recommend using the cheap stuff…

Hold Your Nose
1. A water/vodka blend can remove odors when sprayed on things like rugs, clothes, blankets and towels – and stinky shoes! Try soaking your feet in vodka too – they’ll come out smelling better
than feet.

2. Add essential oils or scents to the water/vodka mixture to give items a fresh scent.

3. Add a half cup or so of vodka to a load of laundry and kill that mildewy smell.

See More Clearly
4. Enjoy this one while out in the sun – a vodka/water combo is great for cleaning sunglass lenses.

5. Spray vodka on your windows, wipe down and panes will sparkle.

6. Spray vodka directly on to chrome for super shiny metal

7. Vodka kills soap scum – use on shower walls, faucets, etc

Kill’em (bacteria, that is)
8. Use vodka as a substitute for Neosporin or other disinfectant on small scrapes and wounds.

9. More painful injuries? use vodka as an anesthetic too – both topical and ingested…

10. Spraying/puring vodka on your hands will act like a hand sanitizer

Heal’em
11. Poison ivy? Pour vodka on the effected area and the itch should be gone.

12. Stung by a jellyfish? (it could happen!) vodka might be a great alternative, to the OTHER method you’ve heard about.

Unstick’em
13. Vodka is a great solution for removing sticky things like labels, price tags etc. Even band aids!

Cut the Grease
14. Add vodka to your sink full of dirty dishes and cut right through the grease.

The Rest

15. Add a little vodka and a little sugar to the water in a vase full of cut flowers – voila, longer stem life.
16. Let jewelry soak in some vodka then wipe with a clean cloth.
17. Vodka will kill bugs, or act as a repellent when sprayed on your skin!
