Features & Innovations
Our company’s tradition is defined by constant innovation. American Standard’s commitment to excellence means that we are continually enhancing our product lines to bring you the newest technologies and features available in the marketplace. To communicate the innovative nature of our products, we have developed an icon system to represent each of the technologies. On all of our product packaging, literature and web site, you will find an icon or a series of icons to indicate which of our many innovations is manifest in each product.
VorMax™ Flushing Technology
The Engineering Behind How The Vormax Toilet Cleans 2X Better
The benefits of VorMax® flush technology are best explained by highlighting the hydraulic changes in terms of how the water is delivered to the bowl.
To achieve the maximum energy out of the 1.28 gallons of water used in a flush, American Standard engineers reinvented flush hydraulics, completely changing the way a toilet is flushed. This is now known as VorMax flushing technology. The difference is noticed instantly when you see a VorMax toilet flushed. It powerfully scrubs the full circumference of the bowl, from top to bottom. The VorMax flush has been tested against competitive toilets and proven to clean 2x better than conventional toilets*.
Conventional Toilet
First, and most important, is to understand how a conventional toilet delivers the water during a flush. *Conventional toilets deliver water to two locations in the bowl, 1-the rim to rinse the bowl clean and 2- to the jetway to start the siphon which removes the waste. Conventional toilets only use 30% of the 1.28 gallons of water used in a flush to rinse the bowl clean, while most of the water (70%) is needed to start the siphon and pull the waste out of the bowl.
VorMax® Toilet
- The VorMax flush flips the ratio of water and uses 70% of the 1.28 gallons of water to rinse the bowl clean and the smaller amount (30%) to start the siphon and remove the waste. The bigger percentage of water released to the rim to rinse the bowl will offer much greater scrubbing power and a much cleaner bowl. Both toilets are consuming 1.28 gallons of water but the amount and how water is delivered to the bowl is unique with VorMax.
- The CleanCurve® Rim: To achieve better cleaning, especially under the rim, a slim CleanCurve® Rim was also included in the design of the VorMax® toilet. This feature allows water to reach the top of the bowl and omits the cavity.
Americast™ Technology
A Remarkable Alternative to Cast Iron
Americast® Engineered Steel
Strength by Design
Americast is an exclusive, patented material used in American Standard bathtubs. It is American Standard’s unique patented process that fully bonds a high quality porcelain surface with an enameling grade steel and a molded reinforcement composite backing.
Americast is a patented three layered construction that combines a Porcelain Enamel finish with Enameling Grade Metal and reinforced with a proprietary closed-cell Structural Composite material. The result is a product that is of the same thickness as traditional cast iron and offers superior performance characteristics.
It is durable and weighs less than cast iron so it costs less to install. The Americast composite material is similar to those used in the aerospace and automotive industries.
Americast delivers:
Consistent structural integrity:
American Standard developed and patented the bonding agent that is at the heart of this process. In fact, the bond between the structural composite and the metal is stronger than the bond between the enamel and the metal. This bond, as well as the entire fixture, is backed up by a limited lifetime warranty.
The final dimensions of the product require a precise thickness of proprietary structural composite material to be applied under controlled conditions for consistent product quality. Americast employs a very precise forming operation, which is in contrast to the less precise method of forming cast iron. The manufacturing process of cast iron tubs can result in variations in size and weight which can effect installations. It is also more difficult to contain warp-age and distortions in the product.
- Better sound dampening qualities:
The insulating properties of Americast products result in sound deadening abilities. That becomes particularly important when running a shower and while operating a whirlpool. Americast products are much quieter while showering and while enjoying a whirlpool bath. - Better heat retention:
Americast acts as an insulator and will retain heat in water longer than cast iron and enamel steel. Cast iron is a conductor of heat, and therefore draws heat out of the water. With Americast the fixture is warm to the touch and bath water remains warmer longer allowing for warm relaxing baths. - Protection against impact damage:
Americast’s backing material is a proprietary composite material that provides strength and durability while still being less rigid than cast iron. This allows the material to absorb impact and not cause enamel damages as readily.
Americast is engineered to create bathtubs of unequaled strength, durability and weight.
EverClean™ Surface
EverClean System & EverClean Surface American Standard whirlpools and air baths come standard with our exclusive EverClean system. It’s a system that helps keep itself clean longer. The system incorporates a permanent glaze additive right into the circulation piping to protect the pipes from mold, mildew, algae and fungus that could cause deterioration or staining of the pipes. On toilets the super smooth mirror like EverClean™ surface is easier to keep clean, even after years of use. That means you spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying.
