Purposeful Innovations and Impactful Designs Built For Daily Life
The top five home design trends for 2023 are leaning into the innovative, personal, unique and lasting. We are no longer stuck at home but still see home as an extension of ourselves that represents who we are as people.
“There are so many beautiful products in the market- we need to create products that not only are beautiful- but also impactful,” says Maris Park Borris, CMF Lead Designer at Delta.
“Design should evoke emotion. Designing is an emotional experience and people want to create new experiences and are encouraged to do so now more than ever.” Read on to see Delta’s designer’s trend predictions of 2023.
Natural and organic materials are able to bring an airiness to a room while also being timeless and long lasting. Rather than bold bright colors, natural warm tones will be popping up more and more in the kitchen and bathroom.
“Natural materials are acting as showcase materials- from concrete to stones, woods, porcelain, tile and crystal. We are finding that a lot of these natural materials are timeless and influencing mood and design”, says Park Borris.
You love your things so why not display them. 2023 will bring in the experience of luxe, gallery-like spaces. Think of a stand alone tub as a statement piece or open shelving in a kitchen to display your favorite items that normally would be hidden away.
“Sensorial and spa-like feel- luxury goes beyond aesthetics- this is an experiential place,” says Park Borris
A statement wall can completely shift the design of a room quite easily. A floral wall in the bathroom or a tropical print behind the sink can bring life and personality to the space.
“Anything from patterns- some vintage-looking, others modern. They can shift design intent and complete a room and make it a setting. I see a lot of mural wallpapers too- they can be quite transformative and really can seal in a design,” says Park Borris
Most people aren’t in a position to upgrade to a larger space. 2023 will bring more options to utilize what you have. Making use of counter space and utilizing technology can make your rooms work for you.
“A lot of people are not looking for MORE space per se but looking for better organized spaces and making our spaces work harder with split functionality. We’ve expected so much of our homes recently and that thought is not going away,” says Park Borris
It’s your space, it should be a reflection of you. Throw the typical design rules out the window and create a truly authentic space that you will love.
“I believe people will continue to make their spaces their own. There aren’t really many “rules” of design as there used to be,” says Park Borris. “I believe that the things that evoke personal emotion will always be ‘in style.’ And our spaces will evolve as our styles do. With the widespread acceptance of finish/style/trend/decade mixing the opportunities are endless.”
2023 will bring in many trends in home design. Whether its natural materials or a pop of pattern with a statement wall, authenticity will be key.
“Because Delta is in such a durable product space, we look to lasting trends. Delta will never design for fads. We want to inspire and give people the opportunity to use our products as a tool to complete their vision,” says Park Borris.
